Farewell Betsy!

Today is a sad day. I took Betsy, my gorgeous little blue Peugeot 106, in for it's M.O.T. the other day and I recieved the horrific news that it failed due to serious corrosion on the body work which I was told would cost about £300 to fix. So being the old lil car it is my mum and I came to the conclusion that there would be no point in paying all that money to fix her when you can buy another one for almost the same price. We've been through a lot have Betsy and I; she started off as mums little get about, then when my brother passed his test she was there for him when he wanted to whisk his girlfriends off for romantic get-aways and for the past 3 years I have had the delight of using her during my gap year and at University. So I've given her a good old hoovering out and tidy up and i'll be driving her back to mums on saturday to keep her there untill we decide what to do next. On a positive note i'll be walking to uni everyday now and I suppose it will keep me fit, on a negative note... I will be walking to uni everyday! many people take having a car for granted but I loved that little thing and the freedom she gave me! But I guess it's time to move. I think Mark's getting a little worried about just how distraught I am about losing my car, he's afraid I love it more than him! which I don't...but lets just say she was very reliable and never answerd back!

Not So Fresh Fresher

I know it's been a while since my last post but by jo have I been busy! It's the beginning of a new (and last) year at university which obviously means one thing... Freshers week! The week started well, everybody had moved back into the house, which meant more people to talk to but also means a lot lot lot more mess, and we all got ready to go out on the Sunday night. A great night was had by all and somebody even managed to get kicked out, which is always a good sign of a great night. Monday night, another venue another great night, it's been far too long since iv been out clubbing so it felt great to have a good old bevvy and a boogie! I thought I was doing quite well 2 night outs in a row however it turns out that it only takes 2 years at uni to grow old and actually want to go to bed at a reasonable hour. So I had Tuesday and Wednesday off and then went out Thursday with mark and the lads and attended a house party on the friday, which i left early to go home, eat pizza and go to bed. How did i do freshers week first year? I remember going out every single night and then at least twice a week for a whole year, what has happened to me?!

The official beginning of the year started today and I had my first lecture. I didn't excactly get off to the greatest start. A group of us were five minutes late, however when walking in the lecturer decided only to shout my name in shame and no one elses. I had then been sat in the lecture for a good half hour writing notes and listening intently before I realised I didn't actually know what module I was in so nothing was really making any sense!  I have however vowed to myself to be a good student this year in order to get a good enough grade that would say 'Up Yours' to all the teachers I had in high school that had no faith in me!

Other than working all weekend in heels and killing my feet, that is pretty much what i've been up to since my last post, I'm sure i'll have lots more to say as the uni work starts to roll in thick and fast!

flat tyres, photoshoots and boots!

So here's what happened the rest of the week! for my 21st I recieved the gift of a photoshoot session in order for me to put together a portfolio and i'd booked it for last thursday. The day started off great I got up extra early to get my hair and make-up done so I could skyp my brother who's in Australia before I went. hair and make-up done, my brother decides to delay the convo by half an hour, not so bad as that gave me time to get some food in me and watch some tv! had a great convo with him and a really nice catch-up, so nice that I didn't realise that I had only left myself 5 minutes to get the rest of myself ready; brush teeth, get bag of make-up, mirror and clothes ready. Sarah then phones me to let me know she's arrived (she was my support/entourage for the day!) after running around like a lunatic trying to find my keys it turned out my mum's boyf had taken them out with him, but luckily returned soon enough. So already five minutes late Sarah and I get into my car and set off... only to find that I have a flat tyre! luckily I live next to a petrol station so I pulled in there and decided to turn back , not before some strange man knocks on my window telling me I can't drive with a flat tyre; I can't change a tyre, he cant change a tyre so really he's just wasting my time! So I drive back to my house and leave the car in the drive (thank God Sarah has hers!). Attempt number two we set off once more. The next obstical was getting into the town centre to find it's market day and all of the carpark is taken up with fruite and veg stalls and cheap cleaning products! But once we'd found a nearby road to park and got to the studio the photographer got me a glass of water, and Sarah a well deserved cup of tea, the photoshoot was a success! Or so I hope Iv not seen the final product yet, but either way it was probably the most stressful yet fun time i've had for a while!

Also, today was my first day at work. Once again I got up extra early to miss out anymore stressful running around. The day seemed to go well; I arrived nice and early (got to make a good impression on your first day) and had to go through some tedious training, health and safety, customer service, that kind of stuff. Then I got some experience working on the shop floor, I even managed to sell a pair of leather boots and recieved commision for them, get me! And thankfully everybody I'm working with seems to be really nice, although i'm hoping they're not just putting on an act for good first impressions, but im pretty certain they are nice people! And also, get this for a job, part of my job today was trying on most of the clothes to understand the different fits and styles. Not bad ey?!

So that's what's happened in the last week, although I hope I don't have this kind of stress again, it wouldn't be bad for this blog!

Back Again!

Hello! It's been a while since my last post so where to begin!

Well first let me tell you about my holiday in Halkidiki, Greece. We (me and mark) arrived to it absolutly pouring down, and I mean worse than Manchester! but after driving two hours south the clouds cleared and it had stopped. A few days later you wouldn't have even known it had been raining the sun was fab, the pool was fab, the beach was fab and so was the company! ;) except from Mark suffering from a bit of sun stroke (he chose to drink wine all day instead of water) the holiday as a whole was amazing, I just cant believe I have to wait a whole year until I can even afford another holiday.

This is from one of the many meals we had on the beach front, great setting for fine dining! Although I always felt guilty for never being able to finish a meal!

Ooooh! Also whilst on holiday a got to finish yet another great read from Jodi Picoult 'Songs of a Humpback Whale' not as gruelling as the previous one, still contains challenging subjects, but you follow the story of a mother and daughter and it explores the different meanings of love.. loved it!

So that was my hol! there'll be more updates of what has happend since then in my next blog...and by the way i start my new job tomorrow.. wish me luck!

Bon Voyage!

Just a quick update today as on saturday I will be flying to Greece and spending a week lying by the pool sipping cocktails and eating lots and lots of greek food... cannot wait!

Not much has been happening recently as it feels like I've just been sat around counting down the days until I go away. Although I did go home for a few days and spent some time with my mum and had Sarah round for a bbq which was lovely! So I had a couple of days away from mark seeing friends and family which I think was needed for before the holiday because once we get there there's no escape! hehe only joking I'm really looking forward to finally spending some quality time with him and just enjoying ourselves without having to worry about money!

So no more updates for at least a week now as there's no way im even looking at a computer whilst i'm away but i'm sure i'll have lots to tell when I get back!

Money doesn't buy happiness, but I'd rather cry in my sports car...

Well it turns out that there's only so much walking or board games or games of 20 questions you can do until you reach the point of sheer boredem, and I my friend am there! They say money wont bring you happiness but I bet you can find a few good ways of being entertained with it! More depressingly my boyfriend has just been paid so i'm in this boat alone, although being the gentleman he is i'm sure he might treat me to a drink or two with it being saturday night!

On the very very very good side of things... I got the job! thank you Rocket Dog lol. I don't start until the 18th September which is a week after I get back from my holiday so at least I'm not going straight into it. Very excited, although I need to buy a black knee length dress and flat shoes, now I have many dresses and many many shoes neither of which are suitable for work, or the daytime! so that's another little fork out but an investment at least.

So although I may be as bored as a hell at the moment, my holiday with my boyfriend is in one week and somebody has finally hired me! so all in all things are looking good for Jess!

Delicious Disaster!

I had my second interview today, alarm went off at 8.00am and I immediatly re-set it for 8.30am. I am deffinatly not used to getting up at that time! so I lay there for a while contemplating what to wear and really wishing I had an afternoon interview! But after trying on 2 tops, 1 dress and 2 pairs of trousers I settled for a light pink dress with a lacy neckline over black leggings and strappy heels.. good to go! I hate reflecting back on my interview because it makes me cringe so much!! I got asked the one question designed for me... 'name me 4 shoe brands'.. simples!! so i got to jimmy choo, kurt geiger, manolo blanik, and then... nothing... my mind went absolutly blank and the only brand of shoe that could come into my head was Rocket Dog?! I couldn't quite read the look on her face but I hope to god she judges me on the first 3 and not the last!

Also, had a lovely day with my girlies yesturday who came to meet me for lunch. The day didn't start off very well as I managed to lock myself out and didn't have my phone with me, I might as well have been locked out naked because that's how vulnerable I feel without my phone!, and the only 2 items left on my holiday shopping list are a floppy straw hat and wedge sandles and I couldn't find either of them! But at least I had great company and we had a delicious tappas lunch!
